National Bank of Pakistan Jobs 2025: NBP Seeks HR Unit Head for Compensation & Benefits in Gujrat

National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), revered as “The Nation’s Bank,” has announced a significant career opportunity for a talented and experienced Human Resource professional to join its team in Gujrat. As one of the largest and most influential financial institutions in the country, NBP is on a strategic mission to transform into a future-fit, agile, and sustainable bank. In line with this vision, the bank is seeking to fill the pivotal role of Unit Head – Compensation & Benefits (OG-I).

This is a premier opportunity for a dedicated HR expert to take on a leadership role within a key operational hub, contributing directly to the socioeconomic growth of the nation. The position is offered on a three-year contractual basis, with the potential for renewal, and comes with a competitive compensation package and benefits as per the bank’s policies. Interested candidates are invited to apply online through the designated portal within ten working days of the advertisement’s publication.

The Unit Head for Compensation & Benefits will serve as a cornerstone of the regional HR function, reporting directly to the Regional HR Business Partner. This role is not merely administrative; it is a strategic function responsible for ensuring that all staff-related financial benefits, from loans and pensions to medical claims and final settlements, are processed with accuracy, efficiency, and in strict adherence to NBP’s policies. The successful candidate will be entrusted with a wide array of responsibilities that directly impact the financial well-being and morale of the bank’s employees in the region.

To be considered for this vital position, applicants must possess a solid educational foundation and relevant professional experience. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a local or international university recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) is required. However, candidates holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree with a specialization in Human Resources or Public Administration will be given strong preference, as this academic background provides the theoretical framework necessary for excellence in the role.

Professionally, the position demands a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in the field of Human Resources. The bank has specifically indicated that candidates with demonstrable knowledge of HR Governance and HR Operations will have a distinct advantage. This highlights the need for a professional who not only understands the transactional aspects of HR but also appreciates the importance of robust policies, compliance, and streamlined operational processes.

Beyond formal qualifications, the ideal candidate will possess a specific set of skills and expertise crucial for success. A good understanding of modern Human Resources practices and processes is fundamental. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are non-negotiable, as the role requires constant interaction with employees, branch management, and regional and head office departments. Furthermore, strong stakeholder management skills are essential for navigating the complexities of a large organization and ensuring the smooth processing of claims and benefits. Given the nature of compensation and benefits, the role demands an individual who is meticulously detail-oriented and committed to the highest degree of accuracy in all tasks. Proficiency in MS Office is also a key requirement for managing reports and data.

The scope of duties for the Unit Head is comprehensive and multifaceted. The individual will be responsible for supervising the processing of House Building and Motor Car Finance cases for staff, ensuring they align with NBP’s staff loan policy. They will oversee all staff-related benefits, including Advance House Rent, Marriage Grants, Education Stipends, and Hafiz-e-Quran awards. A critical function of the role is the supervision of final settlements and pensions for retired, resigned, deceased, and dismissed staff, a task that requires both empathy and precision.

Furthermore, the Unit Head will ensure the timely processing of medical, hospitalization, and travel allowance (TA/DA) bills for both active and retired staff. They will coordinate with branches to process pension claims and other benefits, submitting them to the Head Office for further processing and diligently following up to ensure timely resolution. The role also involves supervising SAP-related activities, including the generation of salary reports and the calculation of arrears or recoveries. This broad mandate requires a professional who is both a skilled administrator and a compassionate advocate for employee welfare.

“A regional HR role focused on compensation and benefits is the engine room of employee satisfaction and operational stability in a large, distributed organization like NBP,” notes a senior HR consultant specializing in the banking sector. “This isn’t just about processing paperwork; it’s about delivering on the bank’s promise to its employees. The person in this role must be a master of policy, an expert in process, and a trusted partner to the staff. It’s a challenging but incredibly rewarding position that builds a strong foundation for a senior leadership career in Human Resources.”

The selection process will be rigorous and merit based. Only shortlisted candidates who strictly meet the above-mentioned eligibility criteria will be invited for a test and/or a formal panel interview. National Bank of Pakistan is a proud equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from all qualified individuals, without regard to gender, religion, or disability.
