Humraz Society: Driving Health Equity for MSM/MSW

Established in 2012, the Humraz Male Health Society embarked on its vital mission with the support of the GFATM (Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria) Round 9 grants. This foundational period saw HMHS collaborating closely with the NAZ Male Health Alliance and the Sindh AIDS Control Program (SACP) of the Government of Pakistan, setting the stage for a robust and impactful journey. Later, recognizing its crucial role and expanding operations, Humraz officially registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 in 2015, solidifying its legal framework and commitment to its cause.

From its inception, Humraz focused on addressing the urgent health needs of marginalized, high-risk population groups, specifically Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) and Male Sex Workers (MSW) in Sindh, Pakistan. The society began by providing much-needed HIV Testing Services (HTS) and free Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) diagnosis and treatment, offering a lifeline to those often overlooked by conventional healthcare systems. These services are not just medical interventions; they are acts of dignity and social justice, breaking down barriers and fostering trust within vulnerable communities.

Today, Humraz continues its critical work, partnering with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to expand and strengthen its outreach. The society remains dedicated to delivering comprehensive services to the MSM/MSW community across Sindh province, offering both in-house clinic services and mobile outreach. This dual approach ensures that essential health care reaches those who need it most, regardless of their location, reinforcing Humraz’s enduring commitment to reducing health inequalities and promoting the overall well-being of the communities it serves.
