Punjab Health Department Announces Major Recruitment Drive for Regional Blood Centers via NTS, In a major initiative to strengthen the public health infrastructure, the Health & Population Department of the Government of the Punjab has announced a significant recruitment drive for its Regional Blood Centers. The department has invited applications from qualified, experienced, and dedicated individuals domiciled in Punjab for a wide range of project-based positions in key locations including Lahore, Okara, Jhelum, and Muzaffargarh.
This is a landmark opportunity for medical and administrative professionals to join a vital public health service on a contract basis, with a market-competitive lump sum salary package. The department is seeking to fill numerous roles, from specialist Consultant Hematologists and Quality Assurance Officers to Medical Lab Technologists and Blood Bank Technicians. The entire selection process for these non-transferable positions will be managed by the National Testing Service (NTS). The final date for the submission of applications is September 02, 2025.
The core mission of this recruitment is to enhance the safety, efficiency, and quality of blood transfusion services across the province. Regional Blood Centers are a critical component of the healthcare system, providing life-saving blood and blood products to hospitals and patients in need. By staffing these centers with skilled and qualified professionals, the Health Department aims to ensure that every unit of blood is collected, tested, and stored according to the highest standards of medical practice. This initiative will have a direct impact on improving patient outcomes in emergencies, surgeries, and for those suffering from chronic illnesses.
The most senior position available is that of the Consultant Hematologist, a critical leadership role for a medical specialist. This position requires an MBBS degree with an MS or FCPS in Hematology or an equivalent qualification from an HEC-recognized university. A minimum of three years of relevant experience in a Blood Bank is mandatory, with an upper age limit of 45 years. These specialists will provide expert oversight and clinical governance at the centers in Okara, Jhelum, and Muzaffargarh.
To ensure the highest standards are maintained, the department is also hiring a Quality Assurance Officer for each of the four locations. This role is vital for implementing and monitoring quality control protocols. Candidates for this position must have 16 years of education in Biosciences, Total Quality Management, Public Health, or Hospital Management. A minimum of three years of relevant experience in a hospital, clinic, lab, or blood bank is required, with an age limit of 35 years.
A significant number of vacancies are for frontline technical staff. The department is seeking to hire a large cohort of Medical Lab Technologists, with numerous positions open in Lahore, Okara, Jhelum, and Muzaffargarh. This role requires a BS (Honors) in Medical Lab Technology or an equivalent degree from a recognized university. Candidates must have three years of experience in a Pathology Lab or Blood Bank and be under the age of 35. These technologists are the backbone of the blood center, responsible for testing and screening all donated blood.
Supporting the technical staff, the department is also recruiting Blood Bank Technicians. This role requires an FSc (Pre-Medical) qualification along with a two-year diploma in Lab Technology or Blood Bank Technology from the Punjab Medical Faculty. Two years of relevant experience is necessary, with an age limit of 30 years.
To manage the administrative and clerical functions of the centers, applications are invited for the position of Computer Operator / Blood Bank Receptionist. This role requires a BCS, B.Com, BBA, or an equivalent degree. Candidates should have two years of relevant experience in a hospital or lab setting and be under 30 years of age.
“A safe and reliable blood supply is a non-negotiable pillar of any modern healthcare system,” comments a senior public health expert. “This recruitment drive by the Punjab Health Department, with its strong emphasis on qualified hematologists and quality assurance officers, signals a serious commitment to elevating the standards of its Regional Blood Centers. By using a transparent, third-party testing service like NTS, they are also ensuring that the selection process is merit-based, which is crucial for building a competent and professional workforce.”
The positions are being offered on a contract basis, which will be extendable subject to satisfactory performance and the extension of the PC-I. All provincial quotas and age relaxation will be applicable as per the prevailing policy of the Government of the Punjab.
