Eligibility Criteria: A High Bar for a High-Stakes Role

The eligibility for this top-level position is broad, seeking excellence from various professional backgrounds.

Tenure: Five (05) Years
Quota: Open Merit

Qualifications (Must possess one of the following):

(a) Engineering: A graduate degree in engineering from an HEC-recognized university.
(b) Management/Finance: A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, Finance, or an equivalent degree from an HEC-recognized university.
(c) Professional Accountant: A member of a recognized body of professional accountants.
(d) Civil/Military Service: A civil servant in BPS-22 or above, or an officer of an equivalent pay scale in the armed forces of Pakistan.

Experience:

A minimum of twenty-five (25) years of professional experience.
Within that, at least eight (08) years of experience at a senior or top managerial or administrative level post.

Areas of Responsibility / Job Description

The Chairman will be the head of the Authority, responsible for:

Assisting the Federal Government in the planning, execution, and operation of Pakistan’s water and hydel power resources.
Managing the administrative, financial, and technical functions of WAPDA’s water, power, and finance wings.
Dealing with national and international agencies, regulatory authorities, and government ministries to ensure the timely completion of all projects.
Undertaking any other assignment given by the Ministry of Water Resources or the Federal Government.

Remuneration Package (MP-I Scale)

The remuneration is set at the prestigious MP-I (Management Position-I) Scale, with specific conditions:

Civil Servants/Authority Officers: Will draw pay in BPS-22 or their substantive pay scale, along with allowances admissible in MP-I Scale.
Armed Forces Officers: Will draw the pay and allowances they were receiving immediately prior to the appointment.
Other Professionals: Will draw the pay and allowances admissible in MP-I Scale.
